59// Path of the Demon!

A bit of old and new. Using just typefaces, I traced over a screen shot of a short film I made a couple years ago for a film class project. It's about a demon coming back from the dead to kill relatives of a lone warrior who had killed the demon in the past. Haha! This was actually a sequel to my other short called "The Mysterious Boy Vs. The Cursed Mask" and there's a prequel called "The Forest Demon".

Lot of fun times filming these. Look for it soon on my new portfolio. I'm hoping to put the video's up there...who knows, I may try to make another flick in the future.

58// 24 hours, 7 days, 365 designs!

Been slipping for a bit these past few days, but I'm trying to get back on track. Didn't realize how hard designing something everyday would be hard on bad days, sick days or busy days. But, I'm trying hard to stay the course.

57// New Portfolio

This is a sneak peak of my new online portfolio. All I really had energy for this weekend was just working on a new portfolio that is more simple and had more white space, because I wanted it to be a little easier for me to update. I also wanted to implement more neat javascript features. Of course, colors may change and even a bit of the elements. Hope to be completed by the end of this week.

56// Green Face

Still sick...urg! I think this green face kind of reflects how I feel. Haha!

The design mojo just isn't in me right now...but, I have been working on a new portfolio. I can't wait to finish it and start coding it.

52// Ninja Turtles

Wanted to try a bit of characters in a circle as seen on, the stuff is just awesome there. I'm still figuring out how to put my special spin on this technique, but for now here's my take on the ninja turtles round head form.

Did you watch Turtles Forever? It was so awesome to see the 80's turtles team up with the current turtles.

48// Asian Heritage Street Celebration

This is my entry for the Asian Heritage Street Celebration poster contest. Its birds flying around a wind breeze. I wanted to be really simple with this design and just have a feeling of movement and being free.

47// King Kong Attacks the City!

It seems I had sort of a theme this week that involves city being attacked or a protector of a city. Funny.

This is my king kong climbing a building and planes shooting him.

46// Batman!

Batman is next to my favorite character who was actually Robin when I was a little kid, just because he was the same age as me. Yet, he has only aged I think 4 years while I have age 10 years. haha!

Anyway, the Dark Knight movie was awesome and I just read today that Christopher Nolan, the director is on board for the reboot of the Superman movie. Maybe not as director, but he supposedly has a good influence over the plot and stuff. I can't wait for it to come out.

45// Godzilla attacks the city!

Expect lots of ultraman and godzilla designs in my daily 365 designs. Haha! I just love these icons and they are so fun to draw! I was inspired to do this because of an article I read on Apartment Therapy about IKEA bringing in some manga inspired fabrics soon. I am so going to pick them up for my place.

And to this day, I still cant get that ugly taste of the US Godzilla movie out of my mouth. Urg!

44// Windsor Wine

This is a entry I submitted for a wine label contest for Windsor Wine. It's basically circles and hearts combining and floating around. I call it bubbly hearts.

updated 02.10.10:

Here is a photo of the label on a wine bottle that windsor vineyards took. I didn't win, but I'm just glad to give it my best and have a entry for my daily designs. What I do regret is that I didn't submit the design that had the color background to make it pop. At the last minute, I decided to take it out and put a white background, but after I saw all the photos of the wines together with the contestants' entries, my label didn't pop out as much because it was too white. Aw...oh well.

Its fun looking for contest to enter that I normally wouldn't enter and just upload them to my daily designs. Its a great motivator!

43// Game Over!

Galaga! I remember my uncle telling me how much he used to play this game "back in the day". I couldn't even go pass 3 levels before I got bored. Couldn't imagine playing this for hours. My generation of gamers are for sure a little spoiled with the era of genesis and super nes. I used to spend hours playing street fighter. Haha! But, gamers of this era are even more spoiled with all the 3D and super intense graphics these days. I miss having more time to play games like when I was a kid.

So today, ends vintage week. May do a couple more randomly as the days past.

Saturday, February 6, 2010

42// Ultraman!

I just brought the dvd set of the very first season of Ultraman (surprisingly from Target) for only $5 bucks. Its fun to watch with all these little toys flying around on strings and shooting missiles. haha!

I used my iphone to take the photo of my mini ultraman figure.

Friday, February 5, 2010

41// Attack of the T-Rex!

Decided to redo Roam with stock photos and make this mock movie poster. I think I'm really getting the hang of this vintage designing.

Thursday, February 4, 2010

40// Warhol

Tribute to andy warhol and his famous pieces of pop art. I used a photo I took last halloween of me wearing some geeky glasses.

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

39// Where's the Beef?

So what came first. The chicken or the egg?

Creating vintage stuff is harder than I thought. I don't even think this one really captures what I wanted to go for, but I figure I start slowly and work up to it just to get a feel for it.

38// Roam!

Roam Godzilla! Roam! Yeah, my Godzilla drawing is very sad, but I'm trying to go for a vintage theme this week.

I really wanted to draw the buildings myself, but scanner isn't working, so I used a building drawing from an artist named tyson roberts. Love his art! Check them out here:

37// February

Can't believe its february already. I've gone one full month of this daily 365 challenge and I have loved it! It really get you to learn to commit to a project and just come up with ideas everyday from either inspiration around me or what the day represents. I hope I can keep this up for the rest of the year! I've already had good things happen like winning the Asian Heritage Night t-shirt contest as well as getting some recognition for my work. Most of my friends never really knew about my design abilities, until recently really. Haha!

I have enjoyed looking up other ppl's daily 365 design also and hope ya'll keep it up!
